"Caring both for the generation that cared for us and for each other"

Belvoir Woods Health Care Center

Welcome to the website for the Family Council at Belvoir Woods, formerly Belvoir Woods Health Care Center (BWHCC) Family Council.

Founded in June 2009, the Family Council is a non-profit organization, granted 501 (c) (4) status by the IRS.  We are made up of families, guardians, and friends of current, former, and future 3rd floor skilled nursing and rehab residents. The Family Council at Belvoir Woods is independent of the management and staff of the Belvoir Woods Health Care Center at The Fairfax. The Fairfax is a Continuing Care Retirement Community, managed by Sunrise Senior Living  owned by HCP, a real estate investment trust (REIT). The Sunrise team, The Army Retirement Residence Foundation - Potomac, and The Fairfax Residents Council are supportive of the Family Council at Belvoir Woods.

Our Family Council comes together to focus on:

  • The care received by the residents on the 3rd floor and the quality of life they enjoy.
  • Support for family and friends of the residents, such as Wreaths Across America (WAA)
  • Appreciation of the facility team taking care of our loved ones.

Our goal is to identify and attempt resolution of non-resident specific issues in a manner that is positive, proactive, and solutions based. The Family Council at Belvoir Woods strives to provide families with a venue for addressing collective concerns, so they may focus their individual time and energy on their loved ones’ specific care requirements and overall quality of life.  We've compiled a list of "family favorites" to offer assistance.  We hope through our experience we can be of assistance to you.

We are proud to share the following recognition received:

We meet monthly and share the feedback with the administration, the Residents Council and the Foundation.  We are pleased that our resident-focused relationships continue to evolve.

Note: The right to form and hold a Family Council is provided by the 1987 Federal Nursing Home Reform Act and Federal Regulation 42CFR483.15(c).
